On July 22, 1997, the Volcano Telephone Company filed Advice Letter No. 222 with the California Public Utilities commission (CPUC) to establish extended area service. (EAS)

The EAS increment allows customers with a 209-293 prefix to call TOLL FREE from the West Point Exchange to Pacific Bell's Jackson Exchange. Jackson prefixes 209-223 and 209-257 are now considered part of your local calling area.
